Cole hasn't spent so long in another universe in quite some time. He hasn't been here the entire time of course, he's had to go home to check up on the kids and make sure everything's okay, but he's spent more hours than he cares to count sitting in this uncomfortable hospital chair. He'll be damned before he lets Victor go unguarded, not after what happened last time.

Her valiant protector may also be having a teensy bit of a nap in said uncomfortable chair, dozing while keeping half an ear out for if she makes any noise.

"--and in other news, Gotham's prince has returned," says a perfectly quaffed newsman (on the room's tv, bolted to the ceiling) with a square jaw and a warm smile carefully calculated not to look smarmy. "Bruce Wayne's returned, alive and well! As to why he was declared dead, sources are currently--"

Victor forgets to listen to that part of the news and squeals (having learned from experience that her customary large gestures are not really possible right now), and says, "Ohmigawd ohmigawd ohmigawd!"

Cole very nearly falls out of the chair. "What? What?"

"Bruce Wayne is totally alive, which means in a few months, ohhhh my goodness!" She's gone from zero to valley girl in three point two seconds.

Cole is still getting his brain back online, not understanding at first. "...you're watching TV?"

[victormakesart]

"I'm watching the news," she says, putting emphasis on it to make it sound like an exalted activity. "Bruce Wayne is alive in this 'verse! So. That's that!"

Cole scrubs at his eyes, forcing himself to wake up enough to hold a conversation. "I didn't even know that was in question."

"Clark said he was declared dead but I knew!" She hurriedly texts Clark: BRUCE WAYNE IS ALIVE!!!!111!!1!

This is big. She's had 'Batman in a kissing booth' on her list to Santa for years.

"Sorry, I woke you up... you can go back to bed, I'm just super thrilled!"

"I'm awake," he says stubbornly. "And you should be resting. This is the opposite of that."

"Batman," she says, reverantly, in hushed tones in case anyone is listening. "I'm so happy!"

"You're so happy you're going to pull your stitches," Cole complains, fussing over her a bit.

She takes the arm she can actually mostly lift and brushes his hair back, gently. "I'll be good. I'll save my flailing glee for later."

"Much later." Still, he can't deny that it's good to see her in such high spirits, even if it is Batman-induced. "I don't want to hear that you've sneaked out to Gotham behind my back."

"Golly, I won't head off to Gotham alone. If I sneak off to Gotham, it'll be with Jonny. No... Jonny probably has an alternate here." What she said actually sinks in. "Woah, dude, Jonny has an alternate here. Yeah, I'll probably be staying away from Gotham. Unless you wanna... take the tour."

"I don't think that's such a good idea." He knows he's grumbling a bit, but he is not keen on the idea of her going to one of the canonically worst cities in all of comics.

[victormakesart]

"Yeah, we should probably stay away. Throw a batwarming party in Metropolis, instead."

[backinthsaddle]

"And how does one warm a bat?"

[victormakesart]

"A very small but fuzzy sweatervest." A pause. "Can't get in the way of the wings, see."

[backinthsaddle]

Cole sighs and shakes his head a little, but there's a faint smile on his lips. "Tell me you aren't going to try to knit Mr. Wayne a sweater vest."

[victormakesart]

"Certainly not! But I might compose a sonnet or two. Or send him flowers. What kinda flowers do you think he'd like? I'd figure him to be a cactus kinda guy."

"I think you should probably wait until you're introduced before you start sending stalker vibes, actually." He can't fault her for being excited though. This is like a dream come true by Victor standards.

[victormakesart]

"You're right. I've gotta wait 'til we're acquainted before I start bein' a creeper." She threads her fingers with his, and even though her stitches pull a little she's smiling.

He takes the opportunity to use his free hand to get her hair out of her face. "Aside from the Bat-euphoria, how're you feeling?"

[victormakesart]

"Other than the pain, I'm feelin' itchy, but that just means I'm healing." She tilts her head into his hand, giving his palm a quick nuzzle. "Emotionally... kinda screwy. I think I'm gonna be wearing a lot of makeup in the future."

"It doesn't look that bad," Cole lies. Even if she was okay with mirrors, he wouldn't be letting her anywhere near one right now.

"It's not that I'm vain or anything, I just... it's my face. The only part of me that isn't--wasn't all screwed up. I can't really explain it. I mean, everythin' else I can cover up if I want, but my face is naked, everyone'll see."
